The first competitive match was played at
Ayresome Park on 12th September 1903 when Sunderland were the
visitors in Division 1. A crowd of 30,000 watched as the Wearsider's
won 3-2. The final competitive match was played on 30th
April 1995 when Luton Town were the visitors to Ayresome Park.
Nearly 24,000 fans witnessed a memorable match in which Boro won
2-1, and all but guaranteed promotion back to
the Premier League. The
